The History of Plank Roads

Plank roads fell into history, many still lying forgotten underneath today's paved roads. During some construction, the City of Fayetteville, North Carolina, uncovered the log foundation of the Fayetteville Plank Road in the downtown area. One of the longest plank roads, it had been built in 1849 to connect this once remote area with current day Winston–Salem-129 miles away! – US department of Transportation: federal highway admin.

Kermit’s Ex

Kermit’s Ex was formed in 2015 and is based in Conway, Arkansas.  Starting in backyard/non-sanctioned BBQ contests, winning our very first contest and getting fully hooked into competition BBQ.  We slowly ramped up to bigger contests and into the Master Series KCBS (Kansas City Barbecue Society) sanctioned and other BBQ sanctioning bodies, such as BCA (Barbeque Competitor’s Alliance), RCA (Rib Cook-off Association), and SCA (Steak Cook-off Association).

Since 2021, we have competed in roughly 20 competitions per year with the vast majority of them in the KCBS Master Series.  We have competed in Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Mississippi and Louisiana.
